Theatre Technician, Josiah went on a Discovery Cruise on the Norwegian Star, in December. To find out what a Discovery Cruise is like, here's his Trip Report… Photo courtesy of Josiah. If you're thinking about booking a Discovery Cruise, it's definitely worth it. I personally had never been on a cruise so this was the perfect thing for me. I was very curious about how it feels to be at sea all the time and how theatre happens. I got to learn both and even more by taking a Discovery Cruise.
First off, you just get to go on a cruise. Lyz was super helpful in making sure that my cruise was booked properly and that I had all the necessary packages to make it a nice getaway on top of everything. Then once I got on ship, I got to meet Ed, who personally walked me around the ship to every venue and showed me everything he could for how shows get put together on a cruise ship and answered all of my questions. Plus all of the staff on board are super nice and will usually answer any questions you have. Be sure to check back for next month’s blog, when you’ll be able to read about Josiah’s interview with Ed! And… if you are curious about jobs in theatres on cruise ships, check out the Starboard Spotlight monthly newsletter, and visit the Blog archives. If you are serious about working on a cruise ship, consider at DISCOVERY CRUISE like Josiah did, where you will get a chance to visit a ship’s theatres and venues in person, and learn about the lifestyle and career choice of a ship’s theatre technician! Please Like and Comment – I’d love to hear about your experiences too!
