![]() It seems there’s a lot of crazy things going on in the world these days. Not to get into the politics of it all, but a friend recently told me about a friend who lives with their family in one country, but is afraid they are going to be sent back to their own country where there is a lot of unrest (to put it lightly). She wondered whether it might be a good idea for her friend to get a job on a cruise ship, rather than go back to his country. Of course, I can’t give any advice in that department, but, as you know, cruise ships hire people from all over the world, so I provided her with some cruise ship options, which I’m going to provide here for you too, in case you, or anyone you know may be in the same boat. First, here’s a freebie for you. It’s a list of cruise ship job boards. This is actually one of the sessions of the Master Class, but blog readers get it for free! Click here!
And, I know I just recently did a post about Mercy Ships, but it bears repeating here, because these are ships where a whole family can live and work! Yes, it’s all volunteer, however, you get a family cabin, all meals, and there are teachers on board(!) if you have kids. You wouldn't be earning any money, but it might be a safe place to be for a while. Some people have lived on board for years! This is the link to the Mercy Ships volunteer page: https://www.mercyships.org/get-involved/volunteer/ Scroll down on that page for this info on families, and more: Family Volunteer Together Mercy Ships accommodates volunteers with families for many of our long-term roles on board. From family cabins to an accredited school, both of our ships are home to multiple families from around the world. The whole family gets to be involved in the mission of hope and healing as they interact daily with crew and patients. Mercy Ships doesn’t just need medical staff. Their boats are whole floating cities, including the need for production technicians! Here's the positions that are open (including a "I just want to serve" general category, which seems like it may not have any prerequisites?): https://opportunities.mercyships.org/ Also, watch this video (This is from "Emma Cruises", one of the 'cruisetubers' that I've recommended to you before. Each year she has a fundraising campaign for Mercy Ships, and finally got to go and visit one!): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o3bZBl9KZXI Best of luck to you, or those you know, who might be in need of somewhere to hang their hat for a while. Of course, working in theatres on ships is also a great career move - Discover more here! Please Like and Comment – I’d love to hear about your experiences too! Thanks!
