JOB TYPES AND WAGES

​So, how much do theatre technicians get paid for working on a cruise ship anyway?

A theatre is a theatre is a theatre.  With a few exceptions – one being you really have to fasten things down!  I went into one cruise ship theatre and looked up at their lighting rig – as one does! – and spied a lighting instrument swaying on the pipe to the rhythm of the ship. Yes, you can be sure I pointed it out! So, my point being, that jobs in a theatre on a cruise ship are pretty much like jobs in a theatre on land. 
 
The pay may differ than what you can get on a theatre on land, because remember, you’re also getting your room and board (food and stuff) provided for you.  And, unless you go on a crazy spending spree when you get into port – you’ll be storing away most of your wages for a later time.
 
Here’s a general overview of the jobs and their monthly wages (keeping in mind that all cruise lines will differ somewhat):
 
Stage Manager                     $2200 - $3100
ASM                                        $1700 - $2600
Sound and Light Techs       $1600 - $1900
